Onboard the Extra 86
Extra 86 carries her 26 metres with a wide, uncluttered deck plan built around the fold-out terraces that open the main saloon onto the water. At anchor, those terraces turn the interior into an extension of the swim platform, and al fresco dining moves outside without the crew rearranging half the boat to make it happen. Cruising at around 22 knots, she covers ground quickly when a day plan calls for it, but sits just as comfortably still off a quiet stretch of coast.
A day out of Puerto Banús might run west toward Estepona, where the water is calmer and the beaches less crowded, before anchoring for swimming straight off the platform. Lunch is served on deck rather than below, and the fold-out terraces stay open through the afternoon so guests can move between sun and shade without losing sight of the coastline.
With four cabins and room for 12 guests, Extra 86 suits a family group or a couple travelling with close friends rather than a large party — the layout favours comfort over headcount. She works equally well for a single afternoon on the water or a longer multi-day route, and fuel use is worth discussing against the route chosen, since a short bay swim and a longer coastal run draw very differently on the tank.
